Earlier in his career, he was a lecturer at The Hague University of Applied Sciences from 1998 to 2002 and worked at ING Group’s Nationale Nederlanden and ING Private Banking from 1993 to 2000.

Willem earned his Master’s degree in Business & Tax Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Additionally, he studied Political Science and Government at the same university. His early education was completed at Gymnasium Juvenaat, where he achieved his Gymnasium diploma.
