John Maraganore: Board Chair

John Maraganore serves as the Board Chair for several organizations and companies. Notably, he is the Chairman and Co-founder of Orbital Therapeutics. He also serves on the Board of Directors of various publicly traded companies such as Agios Pharmaceuticals, Beam Therapeutics, Kymera Therapeutics, ProKidney Corp., and Takeda Pharmaceuticals. In addition, Maraganore participates in the governance of several private companies including Aerium, Hemab, Aera, and Versanis.

Career and Leadership at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals

John Maraganore was the founding CEO and a Director of Alnylam Pharmaceuticals from 2002 to 2021. During his tenure, he spearheaded the company's growth from early platform research on RNA interference through to the global approval and commercialization of the first four RNAi therapeutic medicines. His leadership in value creation helped Alnylam achieve a market capitalization exceeding $25 billion and facilitated the formation of over 20 strategic alliances with major pharmaceutical companies. Today, he continues to serve on Alnylam’s Scientific Advisory Board.
