He also completed a Master of Business Administration with a focus on Management of Socio-environmental Business at USP - Universidade de São Paulo. Additionally, he has pursued studies in International and Intercultural Communication at the College of Lake County.

Carlson has played a pivotal role in establishing a 'Pan-Amazonian' presence in the U.S. to support the bioeconomy of the Amazon rainforest. He was a founding team member and U.S. Director at campus b from 2013 to 2015 and later served as Chief Strategy Officer from 2018 to 2019. His leadership roles have involved working with a range of stakeholders, including businesses and investors, to promote sustainable development initiatives.
