Zach Nelson joined the Amazon Conservation Team in 2020, taking on the role of Coordinator, Development & Reporting. Zach Nelson's Professional Background
Before joining the Amazon Conservation Team, Zach Nelson gained experience at several renowned institutions. He worked with the Smithsonian Recovering Voices Initiative, contributing to the preservation of global languages. Nelson also spent time at the Latin America and Caribbean department of the National Endowment for Democracy. Additionally, his career includes experience at the Carnegie Institution for Science, where he further honed his skills and expertise.
Education and Expertise of Zach Nelson
Zach Nelson received his B.A. in Anthropology from the University of South Dakota. He has an academic background that includes being an archaeology field-school student at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Chavín de Huántar, Perú. Nelson is currently working towards completing his M.A. in Anthropology at George Mason University. In 2019, he received a prestigious FLAS fellowship to study Quechua, an indigenous South American language, in Cusco, Perú.
