David Greenberg has served as the Housing Policy and Development Fellow at Atlanta BeltLine since 2016. In this role, he represents the organization at community meetings and participates in city-wide homebuyer classes. His responsibilities include advising applicants in local historic districts on the Urban Design Commission hearing process. Greenberg conducts research on housing affordability and collaborates with lenders to promote down payment assistance programs, enhancing access to housing for residents in the Greater Atlanta Area.
Previous Experience in Housing Research
Before his current role, Greenberg worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Easements Atlanta, Inc. from 2014 to 2016. He conducted research on housing affordability and communicated with residents regarding down payment assistance programs. Additionally, he worked at Georgia State University Office of Research and Engagement for four months in 2015, where he contributed to research initiatives. His experience also includes a brief tenure as a Research Consultant at the Annie E. Casey Foundation in 2015.
Education and Expertise
David Greenberg holds a Master’s Degree in Heritage Preservation from Georgia State University, where he also earned a Certificate in Planning and Economic Development. His studies spanned from 2014 to 2016. Prior to this, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Towson University, completing his degree from 2004 to 2008. His educational background supports his expertise in housing policy and development, particularly in the context of urban design and community engagement.
Community Engagement and Coordination
In his role at Atlanta BeltLine, Greenberg coordinates with the Fulton County Tax Assessor and Tax Commissioner to assess values for mixed-income multi-family housing. He conducts windshield surveys of applicants’ homes for the rehabilitation program and tracks applications through various stages. His efforts contribute to the effective management of housing programs aimed at improving community living standards.
