Additionally, Liu served as Head of Technical Modelling and Analytics at LV= from 2013 to 2018 and as a Reserving & IFRS17 Actuary at esure Group from 2020 to 2021.
Education and Expertise
Yan Liu has a strong academic background in engineering and actuarial science. Liu earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University from 1979 to 1983. Liu then pursued advanced studies at The University of Sheffield, obtaining a PhD in Control Engineering from 1984 to 1987 and later a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Stochastic Modelling from the University of Oxford from 1989 to 1992.
