About Rian Walker Ferria
I am a young professional working in the information security sector in the financial industry. As an undergraduate at Mississippi State University, I co-founded and directed the Bulldog Bytes summer camp program. Bulldog Bytes is aimed at increasing participation of underrepresented students in Mississippi in the STEM field and has served children across the state in grades 3rd-12th as well as adults through residential summer camps, day camps, and other instructional programs. After graduating, I co-founded the Last Mile Education Fund. The LMEF helps womxn students studying computer science overcome the financial obstacles that prevent them from crossing the finish line towards earning their degree. My professional interests include software engineering, front-end web development, cybersecurity, and computer science/STEM education. I am currently located in Charlotte, NC. I have been featured in Amy Poehler's Smart Girls and Forbes' Geek Girl Rising for my accomplishments and unwavering passion and dedication to increasing girls and women's participation in computer science. I enjoy volunteering with the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) and using my network to promote outreach and opportunities for this community.
