About Zheng Cui
I enjoy solving interesting problems and making delicious food.As a PhD student, I am passionate about using my skills in low-temperature experimental physics to conduct studies that would impact people's lives, be it through fundamental discovery or technological innovation. I have been using Superconducting QUantum Interference Devices (SQUID) to:- study a candidate topological superconductor, a new (artificially constructed hybrid) phase of matter that has the potential of becoming the building block of fault-tolerant quantum computers.- develop an ultrafast magnetic imaging technique that can be a powerful diagnostic tool for next-gen nano-scale magnetic memory/storage devices.Several amazing friends and I have also been running a gourmet pop-up restaurant on Stanford campus. We have served hundreds of people their first fine-dining experience. Guests have brought dates, friends and family, and occasionally even business partners to impress them with our food and service. I solve problems and cook food for the challenge, the reward, and the experience that I get to share with people around me.
