About Michael Howard
I'm passionate about improving the world by enabling more sustainable and equitable energy for everyone's global benefit. For over 40 years, I've been fortunate to practice my passion for helping accelerate the development of cleaner energy technologies, enabling better lives for all, and securing a healthier planet for future generations. I'm honored to practice my passion as the Chair of the World Energy Council, CEO Emeritus of EPRI, and a Board member of other forward-leading energy organizations delivering services and innovative clean energy products. I also serve as a Senior Fellow of the Enel Foundation, advisor to Lime Rock New Energy Ventures, a venture capital fund for clean energy companies, and on the Board of the Carnegie Mellon University Scott Institute for Energy Innovation. These organizations are dedicated to making the world a better place through cleaner and more equitable energy. In January 2021, I became CEO Emeritus at EPRI after serving as its global President and CEO for ten years. While CEO of EPRI, I led an international Board of Directors and an Advisory Board of distinguished global energy leaders, state regulators, prominent energy academicians, environmental leaders, and Wall Street executives. After several years of involvement with the World Energy Council, in October 2022, I became Chair of the Board. For almost 100 years, the World Energy Council has been engaging energy leaders throughout the world to meet whole energy system challenges. The Council is an impartial global network of nearly 100 national Member Committees that connects energy leaders, industries, governments, innovators, and experts worldwide to promote the sustainable supply and use of energy for the most significant benefit of all people. As a frequent presenter at national and international conferences, I'm adept at simplifying complex technical and social drivers to develop strategic intersections of technological, economic, and regulatory forces affecting the multi-trillion-dollar global energy transition. I regularly meet with energy company Boards of Directors to discuss technical and policy trends that drive the energy sector and testify on energy-related issues before various U.S. Senate and House committees. I look forward to continuing this passion through a conversation with you.
