Cheniere Energy

Cheniere Energy is a leading global provider of LNG, headquartered in Houston, Texas, and the largest producer of LNG in the United States.

About Cheniere Energy

Cheniere Energy is a full-service global provider of clean, secure, and affordable liquefied natural gas (LNG). The company commenced operations in 2016 and is recognized as the largest producer of LNG in the United States, and the second largest operator globally. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Cheniere Energy operates LNG facilities in Southwest Louisiana and South Texas while having a global presence with offices in London, Singapore, Washington, Beijing, and Tokyo.

LNG Facilities and Capabilities

Cheniere Energy's Sabine Pass LNG facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana began export operations in 2016. It has six liquefaction trains, contributing to a total production capacity of approximately 30 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG. The Corpus Christi LNG facility in South Texas started operations in 2018 and consists of three operational liquefaction units with a total production capacity of around 15 mtpa. Both facilities adhere to advanced standards, with pipelines constructed, owned, and operated by Cheniere connecting them to third-party networks.

Major Projects and Infrastructure Investments

Cheniere Energy has invested over $38 billion in LNG infrastructure. Key projects include the Sabine Pass Expansion, which aims to add 20 mtpa of LNG production capacity, and the Corpus Christi Stage 3 project, expected to enhance production capacity by approximately 10+ mtpa. The Sabine Pass Expansion Project, which filed applications with FERC and DOE in February 2024, includes two large-scale liquefaction trains and additional storage tanks, among other enhancements. Construction for the Corpus Christi Stage 3 project began in 2022 and is fully permitted.

Global Export Operations

Since its inception, Cheniere Energy has exported over 3,280 cargoes. The Sabine Pass facility alone has produced more than 2,490 cumulative LNG cargoes, totaling over 170 million tonnes of LNG. The Corpus Christi facility, known as the first greenfield LNG export facility in the U.S. lower 48, has also contributed significantly to global LNG exports. Cheniere's take-or-pay style agreements secure about 90% of its aggregate LNG production capacity, providing stable and predictable returns.

Pipeline Infrastructure

Cheniere Energy operates an extensive network of pipelines to support its LNG operations. The Corpus Christi Pipeline spans 21.5 miles with a 48-inch diameter, while the Creole Trail Pipeline extends 94 miles with a 42-inch diameter. The Midship Pipeline, which became operational in April 2020, stretches 200 miles with a 36-inch diameter, connecting gas production from the STACK and SCOOP plays in Oklahoma's Anadarko Basin to Gulf Coast and Southeast markets. Within its first year, the Midship Pipeline safely moved more than 200 bcf of natural gas.
