The Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) was founded in 1953. Since its inception, CFT has managed over 1,200 charitable funds. The foundation has awarded more than $2 billion in grants, making substantial contributions to various community impact areas.
Services
The foundation provides a variety of philanthropic services for individuals, families, businesses, and advisors. Services include the management of charitable funds, strategic philanthropy sessions like GiveWisely® Tools and Sessions, and capacity-building offerings for nonprofits. They also provide financial management and administrative support for nonprofit agency funds.
Key Initiatives
CFT manages several key initiatives, including NTX Giving Day, Educate Texas, and the W. W. Caruth, Jr. Fund. NTX Giving Day is the largest single-day giving event in the nation, raising $63.9 million in 2023. Educate Texas aims to improve public education, while the W. W. Caruth, Jr. Fund supports innovative solutions to community challenges.
Community Impact Areas
CFT supports a wide range of community impact areas such as education, economic security, health, and public safety. It runs the Working Families Success Network to improve economic security for working families and offers scholarships through more than 45 scholarship funds to support students in North Texas and beyond.
Partnerships and Collaborations
CFT partners with various organizations to amplify its impact. For instance, it partners with JPMorgan Chase for the Collin County Economic Opportunity Assessment and with the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas to host the Collin County Nonprofit Success Institute. Additionally, the foundation supports disaster relief and recovery through various funds, including the Support for Allen Fund.
