A little more about Olivia Woods As an English major at Smith College, I tapped into my love of the written word and the wonder and respect I feel for authors who create worlds out of paper and ink. Now that I have learned about the publishing process in detail, I have equal respect for those who pour their souls into helping authors hone their skills, and who care about writers so much that they have built a business around sharing their talents with the world. I have always been an avid champion of the written word. I edit the books that I read for pleasure, I wonder over and search for the etymologies of words, and—as my friends and family know—I am quick to make puns and plays on words whenever the opportunity presents itself. I would love the opportunity to help champion a writer’s talent and bring his or her dream of becoming a published author to life. Additionally, by understanding the intricacies of publishing, working in office spaces and performing various kinds of administrative work, and serving as an editor through various publications, institutions, and organizations, I know that there is nothing more I would love to do with my time than thrive in an office space stacked high with books, engaging with fellow book lovers and working with the written word, and, ideally, working to perfect it.
