About Josh Gates
I earned my amateur radio license (Extra Class) at the age of 12. My first job out of high school was repairing hand held radios and repeater systems. I spent nearly nine years in the USAF as an avionics technician, repairing radio communication/navigation systems. After separating from the Air Force I spent four years working ground tactical data link systems as a civilian technician all over the state of Alaska. I was finally able to attend school full time to pursue my dream degree of Electrical Engineering. My educational focus was on embedded systems and bio-electronics systems. I paired these two tracks together, as robotics has always been an interest, and prosthetic limbs with electrical engineering could become near life like replacements for people who need it. I'm now working as an embedded software engineer utilizing current SoC technologies working with programmable logic and processing subsystems.
