India Urban Data Exchange (IUDX)
The IUDX Program is a multidisciplinary program within the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, which focuses on the technical and non-technical issues related to the use of data to create public good. It supports India’s Smart City Mission within the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and facilitates the use of data to achieve the full potential of technology and innovation within Indian cities. The IUDX Program is committed to its Mission that is: “to leverage data and promote data sharing via our robust platform to solve everyday problems faced in city governance and by its citizens, and improve city infrastructure and services”.
Services
India Urban Data Exchange (IUDX) offers a cloud-based data exchange platform that is compliant with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The platform facilitates seamless data sharing between providers and users, focusing on urban governance and service delivery. It enables the movement of data across silos and supports controlled sharing among administrative entities. IUDX also features a data marketplace for buying and selling data, along with an app store portfolio for independent developers to address specific city challenges.
History
India Urban Data Exchange was developed under the Smart Cities Mission and implemented by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru. It became the first software platform to fully adopt BIS standards for unified data exchange. The initiative aims to support India's Smart City Mission, promoting data sharing to address urban challenges and enhance governance.
Collaborations
IUDX collaborates with the FIWARE Foundation to establish a standard smart city platform for Indian cities.
