About David Stewart
#ImHiring Senior Director of Engineering, leading a global team advancing software in the areas of security, cloud, dynamic languages, databases, middleware and virtualization. Partnering with platform hardware architects to continuously improve their ability to run the data center software of the future. I've also been introduced as an "internal entrepreneur", and have had success taking ideas and turning them into successful ongoing products. Examples include: the Yocto Project (http://yoctoproject.org) for embedded Linux, the MinnowBoard (http://minnowboard.org) which is an open hardware embedded system, Intel's OpenSolaris enabling effort, Clear Linux and dynamic languages popular in the data center (Python, PHP, HHVM, Go, Node.js). Since 2001, I have created and led a number of remote engineering teams in China (34 visits in all), Romania (10 visits) and Mexico. In US or remotely, I have had the honor of leading and empowering generations of great engineers and managers who delivered amazing results and went on to outstanding careers. Besides leadership and management, I have a strong track record of speaking at conferences (50 so far), keynotes and in teaching internal classes. I write a technical blog at https://software.intel.com/en-us/blogs/author/334967 where I cover topics as diverse as open source, data center, programming languages, embedded and others.
