About Jeff Stein
Jeff Stein is Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Casella Waste Systems, Inc., one of the largest recyclers and most experienced fully integrated resource management companies in the Eastern United States. As SVP of Corporate Affairs, Jeff plays a role in strategic project formulation and implementation, directly reporting to the CEO. Key responsibilities include leading or assisting in negotiating financing and key acquisition transactions, managing major development projects, supporting the Board of Directors and its Committees and advising on corporate governance matters, and engaging in matters relating to governmental affairs and public policy. Previously he was a partner at WilmerHale, a leading global law firm, where he advised early and growth-stage technology, environmental, life science, consumer and other rapidly growing investor-backed companies for more than 40 years. He is a board room insider, having attended hundreds of board and committee meetings, and is an expert in startup and growth stage finance, mergers and acquisitions, enterprise risk management, regulatory and HR matters, corporate governance, investor relations and stockholder activism. He has played a key role in the negotiation and execution of numerous successful corporate projects, including M&A transactions, IPOs, and private and public debt/equity financings across various industries. An appointee of the governor of Massachusetts, Jeff serves as a member of the board of directors of MassTech, the unique quasi-public agency in Massachusetts that supports business formation and growth in the state’s technology sector, helping Massachusetts lead in the global digital economy. He is also the founder of GearSay, Inc., a Boston-based sports-tech startup that leverages AI-driven results to revolutionize the sports e-commerce landscape. GearSay uses AI to help users discover the gear that is right for them. Jeff is a sub-3 marathoner, an All-American triathlete, a former member of Team USA (triathlon), an age group winner of several major races, an Ironman Kona competitor, and an avid skier, golfer, hiker, cyclist, and paddleboarder. He is also a proud husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.
