Alex Goldbloom has served as the CTO Domain Lead at Nationwide Building Society since 2018. In this role, he has directed several key projects, including the GRC project with ServiceNow Integrated Risk Management and the Treasury trading project utilizing Murex. He has also implemented fraud and financial crime counter-measures, led the liquidity risk modernization into the cloud using SAS on Microsoft Azure, and managed the sourcing and procurement transformation project with Coupa. Additionally, he has spearheaded the HR transformation initiative using Oracle Human Capital Management and managed the credit risk transformation project with FICO DMP on AWS.
Previous Experience at Royal Bank of Scotland
Before joining Nationwide Building Society, Alex Goldbloom held various positions at the Royal Bank of Scotland. He worked as the Head of Portfolio Strategy, Risk and Finance Solutions from 2014 to 2018. Prior to that, he served as Chief Architect for the FiRST Programme for 10 months in 2013 and as Solutions Architect for the same programme from 2011 to 2013. His experience at the bank contributed to his expertise in risk management and financial solutions.
Career at Accenture and Deloitte
Alex Goldbloom began his career at Accenture, where he worked as a Manager in Global Architecture and Core Technologies from 2001 to 2007. He then transitioned to Deloitte MCS Limited, serving as a Senior Manager in the IT Strategy and Architecture practice from 2007 to 2011. His roles at these firms provided him with a strong foundation in technology strategy and architecture, which he has applied throughout his career.
Education and Expertise
Alex Goldbloom studied at University College London (UCL), where he earned a PhD in History from 1996 to 2000. He also completed an MSc in History of Science and Technology at UCL from 1994 to 1995 and obtained a BA in History from 1991 to 1994. His educational background has equipped him with analytical skills and a deep understanding of historical contexts, which complement his technical expertise in the financial services sector.
