The implant is housed in a biocompatible enclosure that is hermetically sealed, capable of withstanding physiological conditions harsher than those in the human body. The implant is powered wirelessly by a small battery using a compact inductive charger. Advanced, custom low-power chips and electronics within the implant process neural signals and transmit them wirelessly to the Neuralink Application. The implant features 1024 electrodes distributed across 64 ultra-thin, highly-flexible threads to record neural activity with minimal damage during and after implantation.

Surgical Robot

Neuralink's surgical robot plays a vital role in the precise and reliable implantation of the N1 threads. The robot employs a needle thinner than a human hair to grasp, insert, and release the threads. Its base structure and motion stage provide the structural platform for the robot head and the primary 3 axis linear motion used to position the robot head and needle. Additionally, the robot head includes the optics and sensors of five camera systems, as well as the optics for an optical coherence tomography (OCT) system. These advanced features ensure that the threads are inserted accurately and efficiently.
