About Alasdair Mc Pherson
"I have no special talent - I am only passionately curious" (Albert Einstein) ...and if you know me you will know that is not a humblebrag!! For the last 10 years I've had two main focuses 1. Actively investing in Early Stage Equity Investments - Currently looking to support my existing portfolio through follow-on investment as well as deploying fresh capital and cap-table restructurings in viable start-ups that need to "start afresh" 2. Actively investing in "Property Plays" - Restructuring / Mezz / JV Equity / Development Exit / "the last 5%" etc ------------------------- PROPERTY I have invested in property for the last 20 years (Commercial / BTL / Mixed Use / Small Developments). COVID-19 is causing a lot of disruption and I'm keen to look at "win-win" situations where I can support as an investor - cash AND know-how. I genuinely mean "win-win - I ONLY want to work with those where we can establish mutual trust and understanding - the next couple of years are going to be rocky in property and I believe that investors who build long term honest, open, transparent and trusted relationship will gain more than investors looking for a "quick buck" EARLY STAGE INVESTMENTS As with property, I expect there to be a lot of pain in Early Stage Investments in the next few years with great founders and great ideas being tested to the limit - keep to invest in cap-table restructurings, "fresh-starts" etc - easier if a) I already know you or b) know investors in previous rounds and c) you're realistic about valuations in the current environment Again, I'm keen to look at "win-win" situations where I can support as an investor - with cash AND know-how and previous operating experience at the coal face Specific focus on Fintech, Saas, Enterprise, B2B - all sectors which I passionately believe are global megatrends that are only getting started. Larger investments and growth capital investments tend to be through CraigieCapital.com. I like to get involved and support the start-ups I invest in (without ever interfering - I only ever invest in companies where I totally believe in the founders and their direction of travel). I seldom invest unless I have known the founders of a company for at least six months and have seen them work through the daily bumps in the road that start-ups face. I look for * Passionate, trustworthy, single-focused founders who have strong domain expertise in the sector they are looking to disrupt * A large market that can be addressed by a solution that scales through channels * A market that isn’t “winner takes all”
