About Amy Quichiz

At Syracuse University, I received my bachelors degree in Women's and Gender Studies and Sociology. I had the privilege of expanding my knowledge on transnational feminist topics taught by incredible feminist scholars including Professors Chandra Mohanty, Pedro DiPietro, Himika Bhattacharya and many more. After college, I started my own organization named "Veggie Mijas". New York Times featured, Veggie Mijas, is a women of color / non-binary folks of color collective in which we talk about our marginalized identities and plant-based lifestyle. Currently we are active in 14 different states and hoping to continue expanding. As of now, I travel to different Universities in order to speak about my food justice work or topics on mental health, self-love, domestic violence, or radical queer love. Being a first-generation Latina, it is important for me to honor my multiple identities in the work that I do and I am excited to bring all of me, my queerness, my brownness, and my indigenous tongue in whichever Gender-related job moves me.
