He was also a Principal Research Staff Member in the IBM Watson Group from 2014 to 2017. During his tenure, he contributed to significant advancements in speech recognition and led the creation of IBM’s Speech Service business.

Vaibhava Goel earned his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University, where he studied from 1996 to 2000. He also holds a Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) from the same institution, obtained between 1993 and 1996. Earlier, he completed his Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, from 1989 to 1993. During his PhD studies, he received the Abel Wolman Fellowship.
