The modern-day Seneca Nation operates as a true democracy, with its constitution established in 1848. This constitution outlines a multi-branch system of government that includes elected Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches. The Seneca Nation has steadfastly upheld its governance structure to support its people and promote the community's cultural, educational, and economic efforts.
Seneca Nation Territories
The Seneca Nation's territories include the Allegany Territory, Cattaraugus Territory, and Oil Spring Territory. The Allegany Territory spans along the Allegheny River from the Pennsylvania border to Vandalia, New York. The Cattaraugus Territory is situated along the Cattaraugus Creek, extending from Gowanda, New York to Lake Erie. The Oil Spring Territory is located on the border of Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties near Cuba, New York. These territories are generally rural but contain several residential areas.

The Seneca Gaming Corporation oversees all Class III gaming operations in Western New York, generating significant revenue that contributes to the Nation's overall economic stability and growth.
