About Irfan Verjee
I love investing. I began my career in the Asian emerging markets in 1997 with Oppenheimer Capital learning the fundamentals of having strong balance sheets during the financial crisis. In 2000, I moved to Kingdon Capital, one of the longest standing hedge funds in NYC. At Kingdon, I was exposed to early technology trends by investing early into the component supply chains that powered them. This strategy delivered multiple years of nine-figure absolute returns for Kingdon Capital and, I earned multiple notable awards for my performance. Today my passion is alive as ever as we enter into one of the most critical moments in the history of civilization on this planet. As a partner at Shomei, I’m focused on building and enabling the next generation of renewable energy infrastructure at all levels of the supply chain from raw materials to batteries to renewable power plants. Also, I’m focused on emerging technologies such as blockchain/DLT, electric vehicles, med-tech innovation and community-focused real estate development. I’m a believer in investing from a wholistic perspective that takes into account all forms of value including social value, environmental value, financial value, and information/knowledge value. It’s my mission to connect these forms of value together and create a wealthier and more sustainable world.
