About Kay Koplovitz
Possibility has always inspired me. What could be possible using geosynchronous orbiting satellites to open up a world of communication led me to launch and become Chairman and CEO of the first satellite-delivered basic cable network, Madison Square Garden Sports in 1977 - renamed USA Network (1980). We created the two revenue stream model - advertising and licensing - that still exists today and has made the cable networks so profitable. Today I am inspired by the possibility of what human capital can mean to a business. Women helping women build their companies and create jobs is having an impact on our economy. As Chairman of Springboard Enterprises, the nation’s premier platform for connecting women with venture capital, I spend much of my time and energy helping women find venture capital to fund their companies. We do this through our well-developed network of human capital. We partner with Angel Funds, VCs, and corporations. This effort has yielded extraordinary growth levels and positive liquidity events for investors, including IPOs. Importantly, high-level jobs are being created to fuel our economy. I have served on corporate boards for over 25 years, gaining experience in how companies govern. One key is by having a diverse board membership; I am dedicated to promoting more women for board membership to ensure our companies are competitive in the diverse global economy. Women have the education, financial influence, and expertise to make an impact as never before in all areas of science, technology, business, and the economy. This is why I do all the things I do. I enjoy playing tennis and high-risk adventure travel, and altitude hiking. We live in an age of abundance that needs to be shared, and I see unlimited possibilities.
