About Allison Byers

I helped launch, co-led, and raised nearly $10M for a medical device start-up spun out of MIT, where I was shocked by the inefficiency and gender bias I experienced during fundraising. I became obsessed with working toward parity in funding our innovation economy and have spent years doing this in four ways: 1. Entrepreneurship. I founded Scroobious in 2020, which is a scalable platform that makes high-quality education and guidance affordable and accessible to all founders so they can pitch more effectively. We then use algorithmic curation based on decision science to help investors discover relevant opportunities outside their networks. I'm focused on building infrastructure for the angel investing capital class to put unused capital to work. 2. Advocacy and policy work. I helped ideate, write, and testified for California Senate Bill 54, now law, that requires funds to publicly report diversity data about their investments to the civil rights department. I'm also working with the team in MA on House 1708/Senate 978 bills focused on harassment and discrimination protections during fundraising. I am happy to discuss with any state or country wanting to pursue similar bills. 3. Non-profit work. I am the Co-Chair of the Boston chapter of the national non-profit All Raise and on the DEI task force for the Angel Capital Association. 4. Angel investing. I am an angel investor myself voting with my dollars for companies founded and run by underrepresented entrepreneurs. * I typically only accept connection requests from people I have met or spoken with. If we don't know each other, please include a note about why we should connect.
