Charles Modlin has an extensive educational background. He earned his Medical Degree from Northwestern University - The Feinberg School of Medicine, completing his studies in 1987. He also studied Urological Surgery at New York University from 1987 to 1993. Modlin holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Northwestern University. In addition to his medical training, he obtained an MBA and completed a Certificate in Organizational Leadership from Harvard Business School Online in 2022. He is currently studying Executive Presence and Influence at Wharton Executive Education.

Charles Modlin has received numerous accolades throughout his career. He was awarded the Northwestern University Presidential Alumni Medal and the Inaugural 2009 Distinguished Humanitarianism in Medicine Award from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. In 2007, he received the MLK Greater Cleveland Partnership Community Service Award. He was recognized as one of the Top 21 Black Doctors in America by The Atlanta Post in 2011. Additionally, he has served on the Ohio Commission on Minority Health, appointed by two Ohio Governors.

In his leadership capacity, Charles Modlin served as the elected President of the Medical Staff at Cleveland Clinic. He was appointed by Governor Mike DeWine to the Ohio Governor’s Minority Covid-19 Strike Force in March 2020, demonstrating his commitment to addressing health disparities.
