Additionally, she obtained a PGCE from the University of the West of England in 2003 and a BTEC National Diploma in Hotel Catering and Institutional Operations from Ealing College of Higher Education from 1986 to 1988.

Alexis has extensive experience in STEM education, specializing in the development and management of enrichment programs. She has successfully devised and delivered professional development programs aimed at enhancing STEM education for both adults and young people. Before her current positions, Alexis worked as a Freelance Associate for both EDT (The Engineering Development Trust) and The Smallpeice Trust from 2017 to 2020. She also served as an Assistant Cub Leader at The Scout Association from 2016 to 2018, contributing to the scouting community in Portishead.
