Yes, you read my headline. That’s right! I transitioned from oil/gas engineering even after 6 academic and professional awards (including a Dean’s award for first-class students and the most influential student leader at my Universities) to chart a purposeful course on climate-focused leadership, tech and sustainability consulting. However, my academic background played a huge role in aiding a thorough understanding about the science of climate change. This is evident through my stella grades in climate courses, workshops and related programs. In January 2020, I piloted Efico Edtech Resources (www.Eficoresource.com), a sustainability ecosystem for tech talents (undergraduates and fresh graduates) across Africa, helping them with mentorship and career clarity. Through this pipeline, specifically, the Save-The-Climate Project, I enlisted the talents of undergraduate and graduate students to carry out climate change advocacy solutions through a blended approach of awareness, education, and business development (https://eficoresource.com/view-projects) Due to my impact in climate sustainability and leadership in Africa, I was nominated as one of Africa’s Brightest Young Minds, a climate ambassador in my community and climate champion in various fellowship programs I have been selected to function. I have also been selected as a delegate to represent youth voices in numerous climate conferences where I interfaced with the prime minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen. I have acquired a fully funded scholarship to study Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development at Lagos Business school, the foremost in Africa and 41st in the world where I honed and designed a business model for climate-tech start-up. Now, I have been shortlisted for 5 prestigious scholarships at the University of Oxford (The best University in the world, Time Higher Education) and the University College London. As the Founder and Director of Efico, I have led various innovative solutions leveraging 60 campus ambassadors across 35 universities in Nigeria. I am presently changing the narrative of the African Education and climate and have directly impacted over 7000+ university and secondary school students. Because of this exciting impacts and business model, I was awarded by Business Day Media as one of the impactful founder propagating one of the fastest-growing companies in Nigeria, among other prestigious awards.
