About Galen Davis

Through the thoughtful use of technology and by leveraging best practices I’ve created a reputation of improving postsecondary course design and delivery both on-ground and online. I’ve consulted directly with faculty from a variety of universities on how to use technology effectively in their teaching, spearheading partnerships with colleagues to facilitate the use of tools both brought to and embedded within classrooms. Extensive and ongoing research on the science of learning has helped me generate concrete, practical, and creative suggestions of how faculty can improve their course design and delivery. I’ve also worked extensively in video production, leading teams to film and/or edit educational videos from a variety of disciplines. My involvement was at all levels: pre-production (writing scripts and storyboards), production (filming and directing), and postproduction (video editing and providing comments on drafts from freelancers). I deeply enjoy leveraging my creative skills in video production – indeed, in all facets of my work – and my acting experience has served me well for both on-camera and voiceover performances. I also have a deep interest in video games and interactive media, both with respect to their artistry as well as their educative potential. I studied the intensely unique entertainment experience of being a “player” in addition to the complexity of interactive storytelling while pursuing both of my degrees at Stanford. Given my career path in the support of higher education, I’ve accordingly always been interested in the potential teaching power of games, augmented/virtual reality, and interactivity to improve engagement, retention, and the achievement of learning outcomes.
