Assistant United States Attorney @ United States Attorneys' Offices

About Aaron Kollitz

I serve as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s Office (“USAO”) for the Central District of California. I represent the United States, its agencies, and its employees in individual and class action cases. My responsibilities include devising litigation strategies to protect public safety, financial, and security interests of the Federal Government, as well as advising federal agencies on the risks and ramifications of litigation on national policies and practices. My representative clients include, but are not limited to, the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, Department of State, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Veterans Affairs, and Bureau of Prisons. Prior to joining the USAO, I practiced commercial litigation at a Los Angeles-based private firm known for its focus on complex litigation in domestic and international venues. While there, I was under secondment to a Fortune 250 Company’s Litigation Division, where I worked on energy procurement and property rights matters. I also succeeded in obtaining a favorable verdict for that company in a hotly contested property rights case. Throughout my career, I have successfully advocated for my clients in a myriad of ways. I have litigated and prevailed in Federal Court, State Court, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings. I also have prevailed on numerous pre-trial motions and oppositions which led to favorable results for my clients, including oppositions to motions for class certifications, motions for summary judgment, and motions for preliminary injunction. I drafted an amicus brief on the interpretation of newly enacted legislation. I also drafted a compelling letter to the Attorney General of Texas to preserve a client’s trade secrets threatened by a competitor’s request for information, pursuant to Texas Public Information Act.
