Tomas Straka holds the title of Chief Solutions Architect at ACTUM Digital, based in the Prague metropolitan area. In his role, he focuses on designing and implementing scalable and resilient e-commerce solutions. He leads a diverse team of over 10 consultants who operate from 5 different locations and communicate in 4 languages.
Previous Roles and Industry Experience
Before joining ACTUM Digital, Tomas Straka worked at Rossum as Head of Services for 3 months in 2020 in Prague, Česko. Prior to that, he spent 2 years, from 2018 to 2020, as Director CX Success & Services for Central and Eastern Europe at SAP in Prague. Between 2014 and 2018, Tomas served as a Principal Consultant in hybris Commerce at SAP Hybris in Chicago, Illinois, and from 2010 to 2013, he was a Senior Consultant at SAP Hybris in the Greater Chicago Area. Additionally, Tomas co-founded and worked as a Consultant at Společně s.r.o. from 2003 to 2010, leading telco projects, and earlier in his career, he worked as a Developer at Telenor and Humusoft.
Education and Early Career
Tomas Straka earned his Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science from Charles University in Prague, studying from 1993 to 1999. He began his professional career at Humusoft, where he worked as a Developer focusing on C++ and Matlab programming from 1998 to 2001. He later joined Telenor as a Java and Perl Developer, from 2001 to 2003.

Tomas Straka has a broad array of technical skills, including expertise in Java, Scala, Akka, Play, Spring, React JS, GQL, SQL, IOS, reactive programming, parallel computing, Docker containers, AWS, and GCP. His technical background enables him to build responsive, scalable, and resilient solutions for e-commerce platforms such as SAP Commerce, Spartacus, and Commerce Cloud v2.

Over the past 12 years, Tomas Straka has participated in more than 150 e-commerce projects. His experience spans numerous areas including scope definition, specification, proof of concept implementations, design, architecture, effort estimations, project timelines, scalability, resiliency, security, and backlog management.
