Alexandra Sevko is a Principal Scientist at Adaptimmune, where she closely collaborates with the Translational Science unit and oversees multiple projects within the Discovery Research group. She holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences with a focus on oncology and has extensive experience in research and training in immunology.

Work at Adaptimmune

Currently serving as Principal Scientist at Adaptimmune since 2019, Alexandra Sevko plays a crucial role in the Discovery Research, Next Generation group. She supervises and manages several projects and acts as a deputy project leader for two ongoing initiatives. Her responsibilities include developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and providing training on xCELLigence and BMG plate reader machines. Alexandra also participates in writing scientific papers and engages in both internal and external meetings to foster collaboration and innovation.

Education and Expertise

Alexandra Sevko holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological Sciences with a focus on oncology from the RE Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology NAS of Ukraine, where she studied from 1999 to 2004. Prior to this, she earned a specialist degree in cytology, histology, and biology of individual development from Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University, studying from 1993 to 1999. Her academic background provides her with a strong foundation in cancer research and immunology.

Previous Research Experience

Before her current role at Adaptimmune, Alexandra Sevko gained extensive research experience in various prestigious institutions. She worked as a Research Associate at University College London from 2013 to 2015 and at Imperial College London for five months in 2012. Additionally, she served as a Scientist at the German Cancer Research Center from 2008 to 2012, specializing in Dermato-Oncology. This diverse experience has equipped her with a broad understanding of cancer biology and therapeutic development.

Training and Lectures

In her role at Adaptimmune, Alexandra Sevko is responsible for training personnel on the use of xCELLigence and BMG plate reader machines, ensuring that training records are meticulously maintained. She also contributes to the education of her colleagues by giving lectures on T cell and tumor immunology as part of an internal immunology course. This commitment to training and knowledge sharing underscores her dedication to advancing scientific understanding within the organization.
