His educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from East Central University, achieved from 1989 to 1992. Additionally, he completed an Aircraft (Helicopter) Airframe and Powerplant Repair Course at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1989.

Since 2023, Murray has served as the Commanding Officer of the Crisis Response Battalion within the Florida State Guard. In this capacity, he manages operations, training, readiness, and administration for over 600 volunteers. His role involves coordinating with state and federal authorities to provide assistance during natural disasters or man-made emergencies, showcasing his commitment to community service and emergency response.

Prior to his current position at Amentum, Murray worked in business development roles at AECOM and Vinnell Arabia. He was a Senior Program Manager at AECOM in Kuwait, Qatar, and Iraq from 2018 to 2019, and later transitioned to a business development role there until 2020.
