CEO And Co Founder @ Andela

About Jeremy Johnson

I co-founded Andela in 2014 on the premise that brilliance is evenly distributed, but opportunity is not. We are a global talent marketplace that connects companies with vetted, remote technologists. Broadly recognized as a leader in the transition to remote work, Andela has catalyzed the growth of tech ecosystems across six continents and become a trusted talent partner for hundreds of leading engineering firms, including GitHub, Cloudflare, and ViacomCBS. Andela is backed by investors including SoftBank, Whale Rock, Generation Investment Management, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Spark Capital, and Google Ventures. Prior to Andela, I co-founded 2U, which powers world-class online education in partnership with universities like Harvard, Yale, Berkeley, and UNC Chapel Hill. I grew up at 2U, serving as our CTO, then CMO, then CSO prior to our IPO in March, 2014. I have had the honor of being recognized broadly for my work as an innovator in both education technology and the future of work. I’ve spoken at the White House and Congress in addition to most major global tech conferences, and have been recognized by Fast Company as “One of the 100 Most Creative in Business,” by Goldman Sachs as “One of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs,” and most recently by my Samoyed, Scout, as a good provider of treats. Outside of Andela, I serve on the Presidential Advisory Board for Job Creation for the African Development Bank, I am a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations. I also served as a Member of The Commission on the Future of Undergraduate Education for the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and co-authored a book for the World Economic Forum: ‘Education & Skills 2.0: New Targets & Innovative Approaches.’
