About Lee Tanenbaum
I'm a Machine Learning scientist and engineer with experience taking business problems through design, development and production release. Along with currently leading ML for PepsiCo and managing data engineering, I currently teach at Columbia, work on research with Kyunghyun Cho, run a blog (medium.com/@leetandata), and used to run a modern ML meetup where we built software implementations of new deep learning research. In the blog, there is a series for analysts/data scientists wanting to understand modern ML, and a series for software engineers to learn data science. I passionately follow modern ML research but don’t have time due to teaching to write posts about it. I have specializations in machine learning with my biggest releases being in computer vision, NLP, recommendation engines, marketing optimization, and supply chain optimization. The majority of my professional experience has involved applying machine learning and statistical methods to solve business problems, with hand-offs/collaboration at the database, web front-end, or by managing front end development for a full release.
