He also earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Computer Software Engineering from Northwest A&F University, completing his studies from 2009 to 2013. His expertise encompasses distributed geospatial data management systems, database indexing, and geospatial data visualization.
Previous Academic Experience
Jia Yu previously worked at Washington State University as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Computer Science from 2020 to 2023. In addition, he served as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at Arizona State University from 2014 to 2020. His academic research has been published in prominent conferences and journals, including SIGMOD, VLDB, ICDE, SIGSPATIAL, and VLDB Journal.
Internship Experience at Apple
In 2016, Jia Yu completed a two-month internship as a Software Development Intern at Apple in the San Francisco Bay Area. This experience contributed to his practical knowledge in software development and engineering within a leading technology company.
