Olivia Wassenaar serves as Partner and Head of Sustainability & Infrastructure at Apollo Global Management Inc. since 2018. In this role, she leads Apollo's Sustainable Investing platform, which is focused on deploying $50 billion in clean energy and climate capital over the next five years, with a goal of reaching $100 billion by 2030. Wassenaar also co-chairs Apollo’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Steering Group, demonstrating her commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace.
Previous Experience
Prior to her current role at Apollo, Olivia Wassenaar held various positions in the finance and sustainability sectors. She worked at Riverstone Holdings as Managing Director from 2008 to 2018, focusing on investments in the energy sector. Before that, she was an Associate in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs from 2007 to 2008. Earlier in her career, she gained experience as a Junior Professional Associate at The World Bank from 2002 to 2004.
Education and Expertise
Olivia Wassenaar has a strong educational background in finance and literature. She studied at Harvard University, where she earned an AB in Literature. She also holds an MBA from The Wharton School. Additionally, she studied at the Yale School of the Environment, which complements her focus on sustainability. Wassenaar completed her early education at Phillips Exeter Academy and The Brearley School.
