His technical leadership extended to areas such as batch processing, utilizing frameworks like Apache Spark and Graph processing through Apache Giraph, as well as Facebook’s custom variations of Hive/Hadoop known as Corona.

As the overall tech lead for Meta’s batch processing teams, Avery Ching oversaw several critical components. His scope of work included Spark, Graph processing with Apache Giraph, and Facebook’s implementations of Hive/Hadoop (Corona). Additionally, he managed distributed scheduling and contributed to developing a unified programming model for data pipelines. This work supported the underlying analytics for Meta's wide range of products, scaled to hundreds of thousands of machines, and enabled experiences for billions of consumers.
