Sherman Chu held several significant roles at Cisco over different periods. From 2008 to 2015, he was the General Counsel for Cisco China, overseeing legal matters for the company in the region. Between 2011 and 2013, he served as the General Counsel for BRIC Countries. He was also a Member of the Board of Directors for Cisco China from 2011 to 2014. Earlier, he worked as the Managing Senior Director of the Worldwide Technology Licensing Group from 2006 to 2008 and prior to that, as Director of the Technology Licensing Group from 2002 to 2006. His long tenure at Cisco provided him with extensive experience in handling international legal matters and technology licensing.
