I recently ended more than a decade as Dean of the College of Law at Arizona State University. During that time, I was fortunate to work with an extraordinary team that allowed us to experience an incredible rise in national rankings, revenues, prestige, and impact. When I left, ASU was solidly a top 25 law school (if you care about rankings) but, more important, had achieved revenue self-sufficiency (only the 3rd public law school in history) without raising tuition. In addition to my work as an academic, I have represented dozens of companies in various sectors, launched the nation’s first Innovation Law Program (to support new ventures), taught at business schools around the country, and been engaged as counsel, advisor, or founder for numerous startups.
