Lau has a rich history with Arup, having held various positions since 2009. He initially started as a Senior Structural Engineer in Singapore and later in London. Over the years, he progressed to Associate, Associate Principal, and then Principal from 2018 to 2020 in Singapore. Ching Luan Lau has pursued advanced education in various prestigious institutions. He completed a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil & Structural Engineering from University College London between 1996 and 1999. He also studied Business Economics at Imperial College Business School, achieving a Master Module from 2015 to 2016. In addition, he completed a Master Module on Resilience of Urban Systems at MIT Sloan School of Management between 2019 and 2020, in association with Arup University.
Involvement in Major Infrastructure Projects
Throughout his career, Lau has been engaged in various major infrastructure projects across multiple countries. Notably, he contributed to significant projects in Singapore such as the Downtown Line, Thomson-East Coast Line, and Cross Island Line. Internationally, he played key roles in the Kuala Lumpur Klang Valley MRT Line 2 and 3, Jakarta MRT, Ho Chi Minh City MRT, Melbourne Metro, and Auckland City Rail Link.
Previous Roles and Experience
Before his tenure at Arup, Lau worked as a Graduate Civil Engineer at John Mowlem from 1999 to 2000, and as a Structural Design Engineer at whitbybird from 2000 to 2002 in London. He then served as a Design Structural Engineer at Capita Symonds/MMB Associates in London from 2002 to 2005, further honing his skills in structural engineering and project design.
