Jerome Frost OBE is the Global Cities Leader and Leader of India, Middle East & Africa at Arup, with extensive experience in urban planning and sustainable development.
Current Title and Role
Jerome Frost OBE is currently serving as the Global Cities Leader & Leader of India, Middle East, & Africa at Arup. He has been in this position since 2016, based in London, England, United Kingdom. In addition to these roles, he has been appointed as the next Chair of Arup Group starting April 1, 2024. He also chairs Arup’s businesses in the UK, India, Middle East, and Africa and is a member of the firm’s Group Board.
Previous Roles at Arup
Before his current role, Jerome held several leadership positions at Arup. From 2013 to 2016, he was the Leader of Consulting for the UK, Middle East, and Africa, as well as the Global Planning & Cities Leader. Prior to that, he served as the Director of Planning for the UK, Middle East, and Africa from 2011 to 2013.
Past Positions in Urban Planning
Jerome's career history includes notable roles beyond Arup. From 2006 to 2011, he was the Head of Design & Regeneration for London 2012. Before that, he led the National Consultancy Unit at English Partnerships from 2003 to 2005.
Education and Degrees
Jerome Frost OBE holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Regeneration from the University of Westminster, completed between 1997 and 1999. Additionally, he earned a Master's Degree in Land Economy from the University of Cambridge in 1994. His undergraduate education includes a BA in Urban Studies (Town Planning) and a Diploma in Town and Regional Planning from The University of Sheffield, where he studied from 1989 to 1995.
Involvement in Sustainability Initiatives
Jerome had a leading role in Arup's Global Community Engagement Programme, focusing on sustainable development initiatives. He also served as a trustee of the UK Green Building Council, contributing to sustainable building practices. Moreover, he has been a Council Member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, influencing global sustainability policies.
Urban Regeneration and Projects
Jerome has played a significant role in several key urban regeneration projects in the UK, including the development of King’s Cross, Wembley, and Bristol Temple Meads. His expertise extends globally, with contributions to large-scale urban, transport, and reconstruction projects in South Africa, South America, and East Asia.
