She initially joined Arup in 2001 as a Senior Consultant in Dublin, Ireland, and later took on the role of Associate in Brisbane. Throughout her tenure, she has been instrumental in various energy transition projects and sustainability initiatives.

Before her current roles, Kellie Charlesworth worked at Advisian as the Lead Environmental Advisor for Major Projects from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, she was a Senior Consultant at Environmental Groundwater Consultants Pty Ltd for five years starting from 2005. Her diverse experience across different geographies and organizations has equipped her with comprehensive expertise in environmental consulting and energy transition.
Educational Background
Kellie Charlesworth has a robust academic background in environmental science and energy transition. She completed her MBA Program with a Postgraduate Certificate in Global Energy Futures and Transitions from the University of Warwick - Warwick Business School in 2017. She also holds a Master of Engineering Science from Griffith University, achieved in 2001, and a BAppSc(Env) Hons1 from The University of Queensland, which she finished in 1995. Additionally, she earned a Student Research Scholarship Award in Water Quality and Wastewater Treatment from CSIRO in 1995.
Achievements in Energy Transition
Kellie Charlesworth has led significant initiatives in the energy transition sector. She was instrumental in creating Arup’s Queensland Business Strategy for Energy Transition, which integrates climate, sustainability, and energy advisory services towards achieving net-zero emissions. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she developed virtual Energy Transition workshops that engaged over 400 attendees. Additionally, she played key roles in the Decarbonisation of the Great Barrier Reef Islands project and the development of Australia's National Hydrogen Strategy.
