Yang also gained international experience as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Oxford for five months in 2018 and as a Visiting PhD Student at the University of Alberta from 2016 to 2017.

During the tenure at the University of Oxford, Yang Yu established collaborations with the Rorsman research group at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism.
