Work at ATCC

Shazia Hamid has been employed at ATCC since 2011, serving as the Supervisor of the Microbiology Lab for 13 years. In this role, she manages the Bacterial Collections for BEI Resources and provides leadership to a team of five to seven biologists. Her responsibilities include training biologists in established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for nucleic acid production. Additionally, she utilizes an ERP-based system to manage workflow and reviews batch records for scientific and quality content. Shazia also participates as a member of the hiring panel for the BEI Bacteriology group.

Shazia Hamid studied at GC for Women, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology in 1988. She furthered her education at Nishter Medical College in Multan, Pakistan, achieving a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in 1994. Her educational background is complemented by her expertise in guiding biologists in both traditional and automated microbiological methods, including Vitek, Vitek MS, RiboPrinter, Biomek Liquid Handling system, Viaflo, Biolog, and Next Generation Sequencing.
