About Jay Mc Grath
I'm always engaged with the "why" as a Product Software Engineer. I view creating value for customers as a guiding principle, and engage actively with Product and Engineering Managers to determine the highest leverage activities. These aren't always feature development: The best solution might be a well-placed contextual hint in a web form, a docs PR to explain a complex new feature, or an improved API error response that preempts dozens of support requests. I'm currently a Software Development Engineer on the AWS EC2 Instance Quality Team, where I am dedicated to improving the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of critical services which power many of the essential workflows within EC2. In my work, I actively bridge the gap between technology and business needs, prioritizing user empathy and business value to guide system design and optimization. In my previous role as a Full Stack Software Engineer on the Alerts Interfaces team, I worked to reduce toil and create a low-friction experience for users configuring New Relic monitoring. I believe that User Experience lives throughout the stack, and that thoughtfully designed APIs and interfaces are essential components of the customer experience. https://github.com/jaymcgrath
