Kaela Talafili holds the position of Director of Education, where she manages programs focused on helping individuals discover their interests and engage with the community. Her work is centered on creating inclusive opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Kaela Talafili has extensive experience in the human services field, having supported children with intellectual and developmental disabilities before joining Becoming Independent in 2010. Her background has equipped her with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within this sector.
Kaela Talafili Leadership Development in Human Services
Kaela Talafili has played a key role in the development of future leaders within the human services field. At Becoming Independent, she helped create and steward a Leadership Development program, focusing on nurturing and training new leaders to better support the IDD community.
Kaela Talafili Training for Law Enforcement
Since 2018, Kaela Talafili has trained over 200 Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department employees in best practices for engaging with the IDD community. Her work in this area highlights her commitment to improving community understanding and interactions with individuals with IDD.

Kaela Talafili is a graduate of the National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities program at the University of Delaware, where she now also serves as a facilitator. She is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership through Columbia Southern University, further enhancing her qualifications and expertise.
