Shannon Dickson is currently the Senior Manager of New Shepard Avionics Test at BLUE ORIGIN. He has been in this role since 2022, where he leads the avionics testing team for the New Shepard suborbital spaceflight system. Shannon Dickson spent four years as a Mechanical Integration & Test Engineer at Orbital ATK, from 2013 to 2017. Working in Wallops Island, VA, he was involved in mechanical integration and testing of various aerospace systems. His role at Orbital ATK allowed him to gain crucial experience in systems integration and the rigorous testing required for space-bound equipment.
Education and Research at University of Colorado Boulder
Shannon Dickson earned a Master’s Degree in Physics from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2011 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Physics from the same institution in 2010. Additionally, he worked there as a Professional Research Assistant at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics from 2011 to 2013, and as a Research Assistant at the Center for Integrated Plasma Studies from 2008 to 2011. During his time at the university, he also contributed as a Thermal Engineer for the Colorado Space Grant Consortium from 2008 to 2010.
