About David Gottfried

Title and Roles

David Gottfried is the Chief Commercialization Officer. He founded the U.S. Green Building Council and the World Green Building Councils. He also served as CEO of the Gottfried Institute, Regenerative Ventures, and its RegenNetwork for 25 years. In addition, he has an extensive background in real estate development and contracting, including roles as Senior Vice President of Thomas Properties Group and Managing Director of its Green Building Fund.

Founding the U.S. and World Green Building Councils

David Gottfried founded the U.S. Green Building Council and subsequently the World Green Building Councils. His work initiated a global sustainable building movement, resulting in approximately 75,000 projects being certified across 181 countries. These initiatives have had a significant impact on the adoption of green building practices worldwide.

Education and Teaching Experience

David Gottfried holds a degree in Engineering and Resource Management from Stanford University. In addition to his formal education, he has contributed to academia as a regular lecturer at Stanford University, sharing his expertise in sustainable building and resource management.
