Rob McCarthy began his career in the Royal Air Force, where he worked as a Safety and Survival Equipment Fitter from 1975 to 1998. Rob McCarthy has pursued extensive education in health and safety. He studied at Moray College, achieving an HNC in Business Administration in 1990. He later attended the University of Portsmouth, where he earned an MSc in Health, Safety & Environment from 1999 to 2003.
